Energy Efficient Convection Ovens

Q. Do convection ovens expend more or less energy to cook foods than traditional ovens?

—gr8eats, via FineCooking.com;s CooksTalk forum

A. Convection ovens are more energy efficient than traditional ovens because they distribute heat more evenly. As a result, cooking time and/or temperatures can be reduced. I’ve heard various measurements, but one manufacturer claims convection cooking cuts energy use by about a third, on average.
