Like just about everyone, we here at Fine Cooking have been watching the news from Haiti and trying to figure out what we can do to help.
Today Fine Cooking and the Taunton Press are making a $2,500 donation to the U.N.’s World Food Programme. In the last week, the WFP has mobilized quickly to provide emergency food rations to Haitians, and by the end of today, will have distributed more than 200,000 food rations in and around Port-au-Prince. Additionally, the WFP is setting up food kitchens in Port-au-Prince that will continue to provide prepared food to displaced Haitians without cooking facilities even after the immediate crisis has passed.
Our contribution, of course, is just a tiny piece of what the WFP will ultimately need to accomplish this work. You can make a contribution to the WFP on their web site and learn more about how they use the funds.
And stay tuned for more on what we’re doing to raise money with our coworkers here at Taunton.
