Welcome to Homegrown/Homemade. I’m a cook who needs some help in the garden and Fine Gardening‘s Danielle Sherry is a gardener who needs some help in the kitchen. We’ve teamed up to show gardeners and cooks of all skill levels how get the most out of their crops from seed to plate. Here, we’re growing and cooking one of my all-time favorites: Strawberries.
Episode Three: How to Harvest Strawberries
In this episode, Danielle and I examine my bumper crop of strawberries (yay!). Danielle explains why morning is the best time to pick strawberries (after any dew has evaporated, of course) and describes the telltale signs that a berry is ready to be picked. Danielle also explains why a “bed renovation” is the way to go if you want strawberries year after year.
