It isn’t easy to improve on a fall weekend in New York’s picturesque Hudson Valley. But add in dozens of wines to taste, artisan foods to nibble, and cooking demonstrations to watch and you’ve got a guaranteed winning two days.
Fine Cooking is thrilled to be sponsoring the Hudson Valley Wine & Food Fest taking place September 10 & 11 at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, NY. We’re taking our aprons on the road as we’ll be manning the culinary demonstration stage for both days of the festival, cooking the amazing tortillas and tacos from our August/September cover. We’re bringing with us Fine Cooking contributing editors Abby Dodge and Patrick Watson.
Baker extraordinaire Abby will demonstrate three desserts—including her Nutella Fudge Brownies—that require only four ingredients each. Patrick, our food and wine pairing expert and owner of New York wine stores Smith & Vine and Brooklyn Wine Exchange, will hold a class on wine tasting and pairing wine and cheese. And we’ll be joined by Dan Leader, owner of Bread Alone bakery in Hudson Valley, who will demonstrate a recipe from his book Simply Great Breads, Chocolate Babka.
Fine Cooking editors will also be manning a booth both days, among dozens of wineries pouring samples of their wines and artisan food makers offering tastes of cheeses, meats, and candies from the region. It promises to be an amazing weekend of food, wine, and cooking fun.
