Take the ultimate luxurious hotel, an unforgettable Michelin-starred meal, a perfect travel itinerary, and the best of Broadway and Hollywood combined and what do you get? A trip on Celebrity Cruises’ newest state-of-the-art ship, the Celebrity EdgeSM. While competition is fierce in the cruise industry, Celebrity sails above the rest, offering a singularly luxurious and first-rate experience.
What gives Celebrity’s latest ship an, well, edge? More than anything, it’s the 29 globally-inspired restaurants, cafes and bars, which offer not just some of the finest food afloat but on land as well. Under the guidance of Cornelius Gallagher, Associate Vice President of Food & Beverage and a Michelin-starred chef—who’s worked at such gastronomic temples as El Bulli, Daniel, and Bouley–and his corporate Michelin-trained culinary team, the secret is simple: “The fundamentals of what makes a restaurant great are the same on board as they are on land,” says Gallagher. “A commitment to great talent, to the ingredients and a laser-like focus on detail.” That coupled with spectacular restaurant design from world-renowned designers including Patricia Urquiola, as well as innovative technology and four-star service, make the Edge truly a moveable feast.
While most cruise lines only have one main complimentary spot, the Edge offers four. With the help of Senior Manager of Culinary Operations, Josh Becker, the fare at each is distinct and stellar: At the Tuscan Restaurant, with décor inspired by a Milan runway, the southern Italian fare (think homemade pastas such as tagliatelle carbonara and hand cured charcuterie) are complemented with rare Italian bottlings. Cyprus sports Greek fare with an emphasis on fresh seafood, served up amidst elegant sea-blue and white furnishings. Bringing shades of Paris’ French Quarter, the Normandie Restaurant—with relics from the famed SS Normandie—offers refined French cuisine such as an Alsatian potato and Gruyere tart. The walk-through wine display wows at the Cosmopolitan, an American-style restaurant that features homey classics like braised short ribs.

On the Celebrity Edge you can choose to dine when and where you want; that’s a good thing as there are plenty of other places to visit, including the exclusive suite restaurant Luminae, designed by award-winning designer Kelly Hoppen, MBE, spa-inspired Blu, sleek Fine Cut Steakhouse, and the dramatic Eden. At Le Grand Bistro, Le Petit Chef, a 3D-animated character, miraculously appears at your plate, preparing each course before you’re served the real thing. Finally, the Magic Carpet restaurant moves up and down the ship’s side, seemingly floating above the sea. “Our out-of-the-box thinking sets us apart from every other line,” says Gallagher. That’s why Celebrity is on the cutting Edge.
