I like to make logs of refrigerator cookies in a square shape and have found an easy way to get a precise shape. I line the inside of the box that tin foil or plastic wrap comes in with plastic wrap, then press the dough inside. Then I put the dough-filled box in the fridge to chill. The result is a precisely shaped, unform log.
