Well-used and well-loved old wooden spoons, rescued from Aunt Millie's house
Have you ever read the blog Poor Man’s Feast by Elissa Altman? Please do, and right away. It’s one of my favorites for its gorgeous food writing, and this post on rescuing some old wooden spoons from her partner’s Aunt Millie’s house before it went up for sale hit the spot for me today.
I cherish my grandmother’s wooden spoon, and feel just like Elissa does when I use it: “I’m not sure what it is about old wooden spoons, but every time I look at these… I imagine the hands that held them, and the dishes that were stirred with them.” What a lovely thought, from a lovely writer.
