The Temperatures, They Are a-Changin’

It seems that blogger Jeannette and I recently ran into a similar dilemma. With the month of October nearing an end, my roommates and I decided we would hold off on getting heat for the house for as long as possible to decrease expenses (because you know, we’re poor college students).

In Jeannette’s words, “It’s almost like a game – how long can we wrap ourselves in blankets and wear double sweaters before we give in?”

The answer is not any longer. Pretty much the day after we made this decision, fall was indeed upon us, plummeting the temperature of the house, turning it into an igloo and making Antartica look like a nice, tropical vacation…okay I may be exaggerating a bit, but you get the idea. We gave in, but now we have to wait in freezing cold agony for the next week.

As I stated in a previous blog post, during the fall season I am attracted to any and all recipes involving pumpkin. Not only does Jeannette’s recipe on Everybody Likes Sandwiches for Pumpkin Spice Steel Cut Oatmeal fit my budget and my need for some pumpkin-y goodness, but hopefully, as Jeannette said, “This hearty breakfast will hug you like your favourite wool sweater.”

Thanks, Jeannette, for helping me stay a little warmer until we get our heat!
