We started the week off in Washington, DC, with Chef José Andrés at the annual conference of the IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals). He talked about the need for fair wages in restaurants and how much he loves vegetables.
Also at the conference, our own Ivy Manning won an award for “Go Wild!,” her story on wild salmon from the June/July 2014 issue of Fine Cooking.
Back in Connecticut, the sun came out and Juli fired up the grill. Don’t mind the snow still on the ground, we were outside jacket-less!
And that bright sunshine made even the place holders on our photo set look good enough to eat (don’t worry, we resisted).
Of course, there were also roulades to be tied, so we couldn’t just stand around enjoying the weather all week, but overall, there was a change in the air.
