Flanagan’s Table/The Barn at Flanagan Farm

Once a month, about 20 minutes south of Portland, Maine, a beautifully refurbished three-story, 19th-century barn comes alive with the flavors of some of the state’s best chefs creating dishes with some of the finest produce from Maine farmers. A table that stretches to seat 50 fills up fast, and the barn reverberates with the sounds of clinking silver and laughter and good wine being poured. This is the scene at Flanagan’s Table, in Buxton, Maine, which has partnered with the Maine Farmland Trust to put on the dinner series. A portion of the proceeds is donated to the Trust. Past events have included chefs such as Rob Evans of restaurant Duckfat, Sam Hayward of Fore Street, and Melissa Kelly of Primo.

The post-and-beam barn, which is on the 66-acre farmstead owned for 92 years by the Flanagan family, was purchased in 2011 by Gail Landry, who made a commitment to keep the property a Forever Farm and was granted a conservation easement. And now, in addition to the Flanagan’s Table events, the barn hosts all kinds of special events and celebrations, with in-house chef Debrah Rodriguez Gaspardi.
