What is it?

Despite its name, apple butter contains no butter. Rather, it is more like a jam; a concentrated form of applesauce, which is slowly cooked until its sugars caramelize. Although it is available in supermarkets, it is also easy, albeit a bit time-consuming, to make at home. It is delicious spread on toast or swirled into recipes for a sweet, intense apple flavor.
