Servings: Serves 6-8
3 to 4 medium apples, peeled and cut into thin slices
¼ cup sugar
¾ cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
¼ tsp. salt
½ cup butter, softened
Heat the oven to 350°F.
Prepare the apples:
Place the apples in a greased 9×9-inch baking dish, spreading them evenly to cover the bottom. Pour ¼ cup water over the apples and sprinkle with the ¼ cup sugar.
Make the topping: In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the butter, using your hands to incorporate it into the dry ingredients until it becomes crumbly. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 40 to 60 minutes, until the topping is golden brown. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
