Cooked this for a company chili competition. First place out of 12 entries! I used 1 pound of pork and 1 pound of beef. Used a little more garlic (2-3 more than what the recipe calls. The finishing garnishes (cheese, fresh jalapeno and pepitas) make it stand out from the crowd!
This is THE BEST chili my husband & I have ever had. Since it came out in the magazine I have made it dozens of times. I use half pork, half beef and extra jalapeño and add sour cream as garnish, but otherwise mostly follow the recipe. It's so satisfying and so healthy. Perfect comfort food, with no heavy feeling afterwards. Whole family loves it.
This is excellent chili. My family loved it. I used a packet of chili premixed spices, but otherwise I followed the recipe. Pureeing the beans and adding them back in to create thickness and flavor is genius. I will definitely make this again and again.
